About

Dicas em Geral began in 2007, created by Amilton Junior (www.comandanteamilton.com.br), popularly known as Commander Amilton, in the city of Ivaiporã, in northern Paraná, Brazil. The idea appeared at a time when online communities brought thousands of people together around simple questions, computer curiosities and tutorials made by people who genuinely enjoyed sharing knowledge.

Origins in 2007

At that time, the Windows Vista Dicas em Geral community was very successful on Orkut. The social network was active, but also limited: good discussions could get lost, useful answers stayed locked inside the platform and many people interested in learning had to join the community to follow the material. Moving those tips to an open website made the experience more democratic and helped organise tutorials, news, common questions and support material.

From group to website

In its early years, the project was also known as Grupo Dicas em Geral. The proposal was simple and strong for that moment: transform the community's energy into its own space, accessible through search engines, easy to share with friends and ready for more complete content. During a period when tips and tutorials were at their peak, leaving the limits of the social network opened room for new conversations, collaborations and partnerships.

Partnerships and path

During that first phase, Dicas em Geral became close to important names in the technology scene. The project had partnerships with Olhar Digital and Baixaki, and was sponsored by XPG and UOL at different points in its history. Those connections marked a time when independent websites, communities and large portals were all very active, each helping technology information reach different audiences.

Independent return

After years away from its original format, Dicas em Geral returned in 2026 as an independent project and, so far, without sponsorship. The new phase preserves the original idea of making useful tips easier to access, now with more organised language, quick reference in mind and room for current topics such as digital security, artificial intelligence, mobile devices, operating systems, online tools and everyday technology.
